Bioregion Werra-Meissner

Organic Agricultural Science University of Kassel

The University Witzenhausen, a branch of the University of Kassel, is nationally and internationally highly accredited in research and teaching in the field of organic agriculture, ecology and sustainable rural development in a regional and international context. Thus, the region has high potential to thrive in this direction.

From the Faculty of Organic Agricultural Sciences and its predecessors emerged and still do, companies, businesses and professionals, who operate successfully on the market.
These are listed in our database of  regional suppliers or are directly available on the university’s homepage ... Spin offs.

The main objective is, apart from the creation of health and biological quality food, maintaining as much as possible closed-cycle economics without resorting to short-term economic benefits.

Internationality
Witzenhausen has been the site of an internationally-oriented agricultural training for over 100 years. This is still being nurtured. Numerous research projects in the tropics and subtropics, partnerships and personal contacts with universities and institutions there, promote international orientation. Since 2002 there is an English-language Master’s course in “International Organic Agriculture", since 2006 an English-language Master’s course in “International Food Business and Consumer Studies”.
